What Happened
The steering tie rod in your vehicle is a crucial part that connects the steering wheel to the front wheels. It could become damaged in extreme conditions like high heat or rough roads.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019 Z4 sDrive30i, 2019-2020 330i xDrive, M340i and M340i xDrive, 2020 X3M and X4M, and Toyota Supra vehicles. In certain driving conditions, such as high temperatures and rough road surfaces, a steering gear tie rod may become damaged, possibly resulting in a fractured tie rod.

A damaged or fractured tie rod may affect vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash.

What Happened
The audio control unit in your car is like a tiny computer that helps with things like your radio and seat belt warnings. In some 2019-2022 BMW models, this computer software may not always remind you to buckle up.
Risk if Unfixed
If the software fails, you might not hear the usual seat belt warning chime when you get in the car. This means you could get into a crash without realizing you forgot to buckle up, which could seriously hurt you.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the software in the audio control unit for free. Just schedule an appointment when you get the recall notice, and they'll take care of it at no cost to you.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019-2022 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i, 2022 430i Coupe, 2021-2022 430i, M440i Convertible, and 2020-2022 228i xDrive Gran Coupe vehicles. The receiver audio module control unit software may fail to properly generate audible seat belt warnings to the driver to fasten their seat belt. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

What Happened
The rearview camera in your vehicle provides a view of what's behind you when you shift into Reverse. In some 2019-2021 models, the rearview image might be partially blocked or not display at all.
Risk if Unfixed
If you rely on the rearview camera, a blocked or dark view can increase the risk of a crash or injury because you might not see pedestrians, other cars, or obstacles behind your vehicle.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the rearview camera software to fix the issue for free. You'll get a notification when the update is available, and you can schedule the service at no charge to you.

If the back-up camera image is stuck off, you might not see what's behind your car while reversing, which could lead to a collision with a person, object, or another vehicle.

Your BMW dealer will update the back-up camera software to ensure the image shows up when you're in reverse, and it will be done for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
