Risk if Unfixed
If the control unit overheats, it could catch fire, which poses a serious risk to you and others around you.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty reverse gear control unit with a new one, at no cost to you, as soon as the remedy is available. You'll get a second letter from BMW with instructions on how to schedule the repair.

BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened

Risk if Unfixed
If the gears engage at the same time, the rear wheel could lock up, making it hard to control the bike and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the affected parts, including the shift forks, 5th/6th gear selector sleeve, and 6th gear wheel, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair when you receive the second notification letter, which will let you know when the parts are available.
