Component

POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SEALS/GASKETS

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The seal on your manual transmission's reverse gear control unit is like a protective gasket that keeps moisture out. In your 2017-2025 K 1600 GT or 2018-2025 Grand America, this seal can break down over time, allowing water to seep in.
Risk if Unfixed
If the control unit overheats, it could catch fire, which could lead to a serious accident, damage, or even a fire.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will replace the faulty reverse gear control unit with a new one at no cost to you. You'll receive a letter about the recall, and once the repair is ready, you'll get another letter with instructions on how to proceed.

POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The manual transmission in your motorcycle is a critical system that helps you shift gears while riding. In some affected 2017-2020 K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL and 2018-2020 K 1600 B models, the transmission parts may not be strong enough, which can cause problems with shifting gears.
Risk if Unfixed
If the transmission parts fail, you could experience double engagement of two gears, or damage to the transmission. This can cause your rear wheel to lock up, making your motorcycle unstable and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the affected transmission parts with new ones, free of charge. You'll receive a second letter with instructions once the repair is ready, and you can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.
