POWER TRAIN Safety Recalls

Critical #26V214000 Plain English
Component

POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SEALS/GASKETS

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The seal in your manual transmission helps keep the reverse gear control unit dry. In some 2017-2025 K 1600 GT, GTL, B and 2018-2025 Grand America vehicles, this seal can break down, allowing water to get inside the unit.
Risk if Unfixed
If the reverse gear control unit overheats due to water inside, it could catch fire, causing a serious safety risk.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the reverse gear control unit with a new one that's designed to prevent overheating, at no cost to you. You'll get a notice when the repair is ready, and you should schedule it promptly.

POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The transmission in your motorcycle is the system that helps you shift gears while riding. In certain 2017-2020 K 1600 GT and 2018-2020 K 1600 GTL and K 1600 B models, the gears inside may not be strong enough, which could cause problems with shifting.
Risk if Unfixed
If the gears wear out, you might experience a sudden rear wheel lockup, making it hard to control your motorcycle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the affected parts, including the gears and other transmission components, at no cost to you. They'll contact you once the repair is ready, and you should schedule the appointment as soon as possible.
