Component
POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SEALS/GASKETS
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The seal in your motorcycle's reverse gear control unit keeps moisture out. In some 2017-2025 K 1600 GT, GTL, B and 2018-2025 Grand America models, this seal can break down, letting water inside and causing the control unit to overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the control unit overheats, it could catch fire, which could damage your motorcycle and put you at risk of injury or harm.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will replace the reverse gear control unit with a new one to prevent overheating. This repair is free, and you'll receive a second notification once the new parts are ready.
