Critical #26V214000 Plain English
Component

POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SEALS/GASKETS

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The seal in your manual transmission's reverse gear control unit helps keep moisture out. In some 2017-2025 K1600 and 2018-2025 Grand America models, this seal can break down, allowing water to get inside and cause problems.
Risk if Unfixed
If the reverse gear control unit overheats, it could catch fire, which is a serious safety risk. A fire in your vehicle while driving or parked could cause significant damage and put you at risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will replace the reverse gear control unit with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive a letter from BMW, which will include more information about the fix and when it's available.
