What Happened
The seal in your K 1600 or Grand America's gear box helps keep the reverse gear control unit dry. Over time, this seal can break down and let moisture in.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seal fails, the control unit could overheat and catch fire, which could cause serious damage to your vehicle and potentially harm you.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty reverse gear control unit with a new one, at no cost to you. You'll get a letter with the recall information, and once the new unit is ready, you'll get another letter to schedule the repair.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2017-2025 K 1600 GT, GTL, B and 2018-2025 Grand America vehicles. The seal for the reverse gear control unit may deteriorate and allow moisture inside the control unit, which can result in the unit overheating.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
An overheated reverse gear control unit increases the risk of a fire.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the reverse gear control unit, free of charge. Letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed May 28, 2026. A second letter will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 25, 2026.

What Happened
The front spring strut in your motorcycle is a critical part that helps control how your bike handles and responds to road conditions. Unfortunately, some of the struts in certain 2024 models were made incorrectly and could fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the strut fails, your motorcycle could become unstable while you're riding, making it harder to control. This increases the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will check the strut's production date and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024 R 1250RT, K 1600GT, K 1600GTL, and K 1600B motorcycles. The front spring strut may contain an incorrectly manufactured proportional valve that can loosen, and result in strut failure and a loss of stability.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A loss of stability while riding can increase the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect the strut production dates and replace the front spring struts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 29, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
