Component
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The airbag in your front seat is designed to protect you in a crash. However, in some 2014-2018 i3 models, the airbag might not work as well for small adults who aren't buckled up.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're driving without a seatbelt and you're involved in a frontal crash, you could be at a higher risk of neck injury. This is because the airbag might not deploy in the best way to protect you.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the software that controls your airbag, making it work better for unbelted drivers. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
