What Happened
The EME module in your vehicle is a critical part that helps control the flow of high-voltage electricity to the electric motor. In some 2019 i3 and i8 models, this module can malfunction and shut down the electrical power supply.
Risk if Unfixed
If the electrical power shuts down while you're driving, your vehicle could lose all propulsion and become difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty EME module with a new one, at no cost to you. Just schedule the repair once you receive the recall notice, and it will be done free of charge.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019 i3 BEV, i3 REx, and i8 vehicles. A circuit board problem within the Electric Motor Electronics (EME) module may shutdown the supply of high-voltage electrical power.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A shut down of high-voltage electrical power would result in a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EME module, free of charge. The recall began October 11, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
