What Happened
The fuel tank vent line in your i3 REx is like a safety valve that helps prevent pressure from building up in the tank. Over time, it can get damaged by the battery cable nearby, causing a hole to form and leaking fuel vapors.
Risk if Unfixed
If there's a leak and an ignition source is present, like a spark from the engine, it could cause a fire. This is a serious risk that you should address as soon as possible.
Free Fix
Your dealer will inspect the fuel vent line and fix or replace it as needed. They'll also add a protective clip to keep the line from getting damaged again – all at no cost to you. Schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.
