Component

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The door latches in your vehicle are designed to keep your doors closed and safe. In certain 2005-2008 BMW models, these latches can malfunction, making it seem like your doors are closed when they're not.
Risk if Unfixed
If the latch fails, your door could open unexpectedly while you're driving or even when you're stopped. This could cause an occupant to be ejected or increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the door latch system to ensure it works properly, and this repair is completely free. You'll be notified when the recall begins, but you should schedule the repair as soon as possible.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
Your BMW 7-Series has a system that helps you open and close the doors with a push of a button. But in some 2005-2007 models, a software glitch can make the doors seem closed when they're not really latched.
Risk if Unfixed
This means your doors could open unexpectedly while driving, even if you think they're shut. This could throw you out of the vehicle or make you more likely to get hurt in a crash if it happens at the wrong time.
Free Fix
BMW will update the software for free to fix the issue, and you'll be notified when it's ready. You can also contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email them at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com to check on the status of the update.
