Component
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is like the brain of your engine, controlling how it runs. In some 2013-2015 760Li models, the ECU might have been given the wrong software during a service visit.
Risk if Unfixed
If the ECU is faulty, your engine could suddenly shut off while driving, which could cause a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer has already fixed this issue by updating the ECU software. You won't receive a recall notice, but if you have any questions, call BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
