Critical #21V907000 Plain English
Component

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler is a crucial part in your diesel engine that helps reduce emissions. In some 2013-2018 BMW models, the EGR cooler can leak, causing a serious problem.
Risk if Unfixed
If the EGR cooler leaks, coolant and soot mix, potentially causing a fire. A fire could start in your engine, which could spread to other parts of your vehicle, posing a significant risk to your safety.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty EGR cooler and inspect the intake manifold, fixing or replacing it as needed, at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it when you get the recall notice, ideally by June 2022 to get the remedy done as soon as possible.
