What Happened
The water pump in your engine is responsible for circulating coolant throughout your vehicle. In certain models, an electrical connector on the pump may not be sealed properly, allowing water to seep in and cause a short circuit.
Risk if Unfixed
If the electrical connector short circuits, it could cause a fire in your engine compartment, potentially putting you and others at risk.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the water pump and replace the connector and pump if necessary, and add a protective shield to prevent future issues – all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

(BMW) is recalling certain 2012-2015 X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i, 2012-2016 Z4 sDrive28i, 528i, 528i xDrive, 328i, 328xi, 2016-2018 X5 xdrive 40e, 2014-2016 228i, 228xi, 428i, 428i xDrive, 328xi Gran Turismo, 2013-2017 X3 sDrive28i, X3 xDrive28i, 2015-2018 X4 xDrive28i, 2015-2016 428xi vehicles. An improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit.

What Happened
The driver's air bag in your vehicle is a critical safety device designed to inflate in a crash. Unfortunately, a defect in the inflator module could cause it to malfunction and explode.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments could fly towards you or your passengers, causing serious injury or even death. This is a life-threatening situation that could occur in a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty driver's front air bag with a new one, completely free of charge. This repair will be done as soon as you schedule it, following the recall notice you should have received on September 6, 2024.

What Happened
The rear reflex reflectors on your BMW are the small triangular pieces of plastic on the back that reflect light from other vehicles to help them see you. In some 2013 models, these reflectors might not be reflecting enough light.
Risk if Unfixed
If the reflectors don't reflect light well, other drivers might have trouble seeing your vehicle, especially at night or in low-visibility conditions. This could lead to a crash, especially if you're driving in heavy traffic or on a dark road.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the rear reflex reflectors with new ones that reflect light better, and this service is free. When you get the recall notice, schedule an appointment to have it done.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2013 528i, 528i xDrive, 535i, 535i xDrive, 550i, 550i xDrive, and ActiveHybrid 5 vehicles. The rear reflex reflectors may not reflect enough light. As such, the vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
