ENGINE Safety Recalls

Critical #19V732000 Plain English
Component

ENGINE

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The counterbalance shaft in your engine helps balance the rotation of the crankshaft. In some 2019-2020 330i, 330i xDrive, and Z4 models, the needle roller bearings that hold it in place were installed incorrectly, which could cause the shaft to come loose.
Risk if Unfixed
If the counterbalance shaft loosens, your engine could suffer severe damage. This could lead to costly repairs, or even leave you stranded on the side of the road, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the entire engine with a new one, at no cost to you. This is a free repair, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.
