What Happened
The counterbalance shaft in your car is a crucial part that helps balance the engine's movement. On some 2019-2020 330i and Z4 models, the bearings were installed incorrectly, which could cause the shaft to come loose.
Risk if Unfixed
If the counterbalance shaft comes loose, it could cause severe damage to your engine, potentially leading to a loss of power and control while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the entire engine with a new one, free of charge. This repair is on the house, so schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019-2020 330i, 330i xDrive, and 2019 Z4 vehicles. The needle roller bearings of the counterbalance shafts may have been improperly installed, potentially causing the counterbalance shaft to loosen.
