What Happened
The water pump in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps cool your engine. In certain models, a faulty electrical connector on this pump can be exposed to water, which could cause it to short circuit.
Risk if Unfixed
If the connector shorts out, it could start a fire, putting you and others at risk of serious injury or damage.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect and replace the faulty water pump and connector, and add a protective shield to prevent future issues – all free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.

An improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit.

What Happened
The fuel pump in your vehicle is a critical component that delivers gasoline from the tank to your engine. In some affected 2014-2015 BMW models, the pump's nickel plating could wear out prematurely, causing it to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fuel pump fails, your vehicle could stall without warning while you're driving, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty fuel pump with a new one at no cost to you. You'll get a notification letter, and you should schedule the repair as soon as possible.

Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing.

What Happened
The front side marker lights on your vehicle are designed to make your car more visible to other drivers at night. However, in certain models and years, a software glitch could cause these lights to turn off when your parking lights or headlights are on.

If the side marker lights are off, your car might be harder to see, which could lead to a crash, especially at night or in low-light conditions.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the software on your vehicle to fix the issue, and this repair is completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 320i, 320xi, 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi, and ActiveHybrid3 vehicles manufactured October 20, 2011, to June 22, 2015, 2014-2015 328xi Sports Wagon vehicles manufactured March 21, 2013, to March 17, 2015, 2014-2015 328d, 328xd vehicles manufactured June 28, 2013, to April 21, 2015, and 2014-2015 328xd Sports Wagon vehicles manufactured July 5, 2013, to April 21, 2015. The affected vehicles may have been programmed with new software that inadvertently makes the front side marker lights inoperative in conjunction with the parking lights or the headlights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
