Component
POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Manufacturer
VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC
What Happened
The locking cable in your Audi's automatic transmission is a critical part that keeps the shifter from moving out of 'park' when the engine is off. Over time, this cable can shift out of place, allowing the shifter to move freely, even with the key removed.
Risk if Unfixed
If the locking cable fails, your Audi could roll away without warning, putting you and others at risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will add a small adjusting piece to secure the locking cable in place, ensuring your shifter stays in 'park' when the engine is off – and it's all free of charge.
