What Happened
Your vehicle's brake master cylinder may have contaminated brake fluid, which can cause a leak and reduce brake function.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brake master cylinder leaks, you may need to press the brake pedal farther than usual to stop, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Free Fix
The dealership will replace the brake master cylinder for free, and you'll receive a letter in the mail with instructions on how to schedule the repair.

Original — What Happened
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2020 Acura ILX vehicles. Contaminated brake fluid may cause a seal inside the brake master cylinder to deform, which can cause an internal brake fluid leak and reduce brake function.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Reduced brake function can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 4, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is RN5. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning December 17, 2025. What Happened
The fuel pump in your vehicle is responsible for sending gasoline from the tank to your engine. In certain Honda models, this pump can fail without warning while you're driving.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pump fails on the road, your engine will suddenly shut off, and you'll lose power steering and power brakes. This could make it hard to control your vehicle and increase the chance of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Honda dealer will replace the faulty fuel pump module with a new one, completely free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive your recall notice, which was mailed out on September 6, 2024.

What Happened
Your vehicle's driveshaft may have a problem with a small ring that helps it connect properly. This ring might not be working correctly because of too much grease.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driveshaft separates, you might lose control of your vehicle, even when it's in Park, which could cause a crash or injury.
Free Fix
Acura will contact you and fix the issue for free by inspecting and replacing the driveshaft and half shaft at a dealership.

Acura (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Acura ILX vehicles. Excessive grease may prevent the set-ring on the half shaft from fully engaging, allowing the driveshaft to separate from the half shaft.

What Happened
Your ILX's fuel tank is the big container that holds the gasoline in your vehicle. In some 2014-2019 models, the fuel tank wasn't made correctly, which could cause the fuel gauge to show the wrong amount of gas in the tank.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fuel gauge says you have more gas than you really do, your vehicle could suddenly run out of fuel while you're driving, causing it to stall. This could make it harder to control your car and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Acura dealer will inspect your fuel tank and replace it if necessary – at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

What Happened
Your vehicle's driver air bag is the safety device that deploys to protect you in a crash. Unfortunately, some models from Honda and Acura had a faulty air bag inflator installed, which could burst and send sharp metal fragments flying.

If the air bag inflator explodes in a crash, sharp metal pieces could hit you, the passenger, or other occupants, causing serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your dealer will swap out the faulty air bag inflator with a safer, alternate one, at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

The affected vehicles received a replacement driver air bag inflator as part of a previous Takata inflator recall remedy or a replacement driver air bag module containing the same inflator type as a service part. Due to a manufacturing error, in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver frontal air bag, these inflators may explode.

An explosion of an inflator within the driver frontal air bag module may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver, front seat passenger or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
