Component

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT

Manufacturer
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
What Happened
The driveshaft in your vehicle is a long rod that connects your transmission to your wheels. In some 2013-2015 Acura ILX, 2013 Acura ILX Hybrid, 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid, and 2007-2008 Honda Fit vehicles, the protective coating on the driveshaft may not have been applied correctly, making it more prone to damage from road salt or other contaminants.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driveshaft breaks while you're driving, you could lose power to your wheels. This could also cause your vehicle to roll away if you exit the vehicle without engaging the parking brake, which could lead to an accident or injury.
Free Fix
Your Honda dealer will inspect the driveshaft and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair once you receive the recall notice, which was sent by interim letter on February 2, 2021.

Original — Remedy
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the drive shafts, replacing either the left or right drive shaft, if necessary, free of charge.
