What Happened
The brake master cylinder in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps control your brakes. Over time, a thin layer on the master cylinder could wear down a vital seal, allowing brake fluid to leak out.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you'll need to press the brake pedal harder than usual to stop the car. Eventually, your brakes could fail completely, making it much harder to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will inspect the master cylinder, replace it, clean the brake lines, and refill the brake fluid reservoir — all at no cost to you. Schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

VOLVO IS RECALLING 1,114 MY 2007 C30, C70, S40, AND V50 PASSENGER VEHICLES. A SOFT ANODIZED LAYER IN THE MASTER CYLINDER MAY TRIGGER EARLY WEAR ON A RUBBER SEAL THAT CAN RESULT IN INTERNAL LEAKAGE OF BRAKE FLUID. IF AFFECTED, THE DRIVER MAY EXPERIENCE REDUCED BRAKE PERFORMANCE WHEN APPLYING AND MAINTAINING FORCE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THE CAPACITY TO BRAKE WILL GRADUALLY DETERIORATE FORCING THE DRIVER TO USE A HIGHER THAN EXPECTED FORCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN COMPARED TO AN INTACT BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DETERIORATION CAN EVENTUALLY RESULT IN COMPLETE LOSS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WILL BE REPLACED AND CERTAIN BRAKE LINES CLEANED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 11, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO AT 1-800-458-1552.
The Garmin GPS unit in your vehicle is the part that helps you navigate. It's made by Garmin, not Volvo, and it has a battery that could overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the battery overheats, it could catch fire, which could cause damage to your vehicle or even lead to a fire in the vehicle.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer won't be performing the repair, but you should stop using the Garmin GPS unit immediately and visit the Garmin website to see if it's affected. If it is, Garmin will replace the battery and add a spacer at no cost to you.

The tire information label on your vehicle shows the recommended inflation pressure for your spare tire. In certain 2006-2012 Volvo C70 and 2011-2012 S60 models, this label may be incorrect, which could lead to underinflated or overinflated tires.
Risk if Unfixed
If the label is wrong, you might inflate your spare tire to the wrong pressure, which could cause it to fail while driving. This increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will check the label and replace it with the correct one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
