What Happened
The ignition switch in your vehicle is the part that helps the engine start and the airbags deploy. In some 2005-2014 models, the weight of items on the key ring can cause the ignition switch to move out of the 'run' position, turning off the engine.
Risk if Unfixed
If the key ring weighs too much, it could knock the ignition switch out of the 'run' position while you're driving, which means the airbags might not deploy in a crash, putting you at risk of injury. You could also lose power steering and power brakes, making it harder to control your vehicle and increasing the chance of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealership will install a new key ring and a protective cover on the key, or an insert to keep the key from moving out of position, absolutely free. You'll receive a notification when the repair is available.
