What Happened
The alternator is a key part that helps charge your battery while driving. In some 2005 Nissan SUVs, a wire inside the alternator can break, stopping your battery from charging.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, the warning lights on your dashboard will come on, and your battery will start to drain. If it's not fixed, your engine will shut down while you're driving, which could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will inspect and replace the alternator with a new one that's designed to prevent this problem, and they'll do it for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
