What Happened
The brake fluid in your Genesis is what keeps your brake system clean and healthy. In some 2009-2012 models, the brake fluid might not be good enough to stop corrosion in a sensitive part called the HECU.
Risk if Unfixed
If the HECU corrodes, your brakes might not work as well as they should. This could make it harder to stop your vehicle, increasing the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will check the HECU and replace it if it's not working right, and they'll also swap out the old brake fluid for new, protective fluid – all free of charge. You should schedule this service as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Genesis vehicles manufactured April 30, 2008, through March 28, 2012. The vehicles may contain brake fluid which does not protect against corrosion of the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU).

If the module corrodes, reduced brake effectiveness may result, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners and instruct them to bring their vehicle to a dealer for service. Hyundai will inspect the HECU module for proper operation, and will replace the modules as necessary. Hyundai will replace the factory brake fluid in those vehicles that have not previously had the factory brake fluid replaced. These repairs will be done free of charge.
