What Happened
The brake fluid in your Genesis is a crucial liquid that helps your brakes work properly. In affected 2009-2012 models, this fluid doesn't protect a critical computer component called the HECU, which could lead to corrosion.
Risk if Unfixed
If the HECU module corrodes, your brakes might not be as effective, making it harder to stop your vehicle. This could increase the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will inspect the HECU module and replace it if necessary, and also swap out the brake fluid with a new, protective one. This service is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Genesis vehicles manufactured April 30, 2008, through March 28, 2012. The vehicles may contain brake fluid which does not protect against corrosion of the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU).

Original — Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners and instruct them to bring their vehicle to a dealer for service. Hyundai will inspect the HECU module for proper operation, and will replace the modules as necessary. Hyundai will replace the factory brake fluid in those vehicles that have not previously had the factory brake fluid replaced. These repairs will be done free of charge.
