What Happened
The wiring for your rear heating and air-conditioning system has exposed connectors and wiring that can corrode and overheat if left unused.
Risk if Unfixed
If this wiring overheats, it could cause a fire in your vehicle, which is a serious safety risk.
Free Fix
Your dealer will seal the wiring at the left side B-pillar to prevent overheating, and this repair is completely free. You should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2003-2023 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway incomplete vehicles equipped with wiring for an optional rear heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. When the HVAC blower motor circuit is left unused with exposed connectors and wiring, the circuit can corrode and overheat.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
An overheated electrical circuit increases the risk of a fire.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will properly seal the rear HVAC blower motor circuits at the left side B-pillar, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 2, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GMC's number for this recall is N222386050.

What Happened
Your 2010 Chevrolet Express or GMC Savana van's alternator/charger might have a problem that could cause a fire in the engine compartment.
Risk if Unfixed
If the problem isn't fixed, it could generate enough heat to cause a fire in the engine compartment.
Free Fix
You should take your vehicle to the dealership, where they'll inspect and replace the alternator if necessary, at no cost to you, starting April 12, 2010.

Original — What Happened
GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOTIFIED NHTSA OF A DEFECT IN CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 CHEVROLET EXPRESS AND GMC SAVANA VANS 2500, 3500 AND 4500 SERIES. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE GENERATOR MAY DEVELOP A LOW RESISTANCE SHORT WITHIN THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR.

THE LOW RESISTANCE SHORT COULD EVENTUALLY GENERATE ENOUGH HEAT TO RESULT IN AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.
