SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The brake booster in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps you stop safely. It's called the hydro-boost assembly, and it uses hydraulic fluid to assist your brakes. In some cases, the accumulator in this assembly can crack and separate from the rest of the system.
Risk if Unfixed
If the accumulator cracks and separates while you're driving, it could cause a serious leak of hydraulic fluid. This would make it much harder to steer and brake, and you could lose control of your vehicle without warning, leading to a crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealership will test the hydro-boost assembly to make sure it's working properly. If it's not, they'll replace the entire assembly with a new one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

Original — What Happened
CERTAIN TRUCKS, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, AND VANS EQUIPPED WITH BOSCH HYDRO-BOOST BRAKE ASSEMBLIES, THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER PRESSURE ACCUMULATOR MAY CRACK AND SEPARATE FROM THE HYDRO-BOOST ASSEMBLY DURING NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF A SEPARATION OCCURRED AND THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE WERE OPEN, FRAGMENTS FROM THE ACCUMULATOR COULD CAUSE INJURY TO PEOPLE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. THE PRESENCE OF THIS CRACK OR FRACTURED SURFACE COULD ALLOW THE HYDRAULIC FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE ACCUMULATOR CIRCUIT OF THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY. THE LOSS OF FLUID WOULD CAUSE INCREASED STEERING AND BRAKING EFFORT AND A CRASH MAY OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL TEST THE HYDRO-BOOST ASSEMBLY FOR FUNCTIONAL OPERATION OF THE TWO-FUNCTION VALVE. IF THE HYDRO-BOOST ASSEMBLY FAILS THE TEST, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 23, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, GMC TRUCKS AT 1-866-996-9463 AND HUMMER AT 1-800-732-5493.

SEAT BELTS

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The front and rear seat belt buckles in your vehicle might not latch or come undone easily. This is a problem with the buckle mechanism itself.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash and your seat belt buckle fails, you could be thrown around the cabin or even ejected from the vehicle. This increases the risk of serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your dealer will inspect the seat belt buckles and replace the entire assembly if it's faulty. If it's still working, they'll just replace the cover. This is a free repair, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
ON CERTAIN FULL-SIZE PASSENGER, CARGO, OR CUTAWAY VANS, THE FRONT AND REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLES WILL NOT LATCH OR WILL NOT UNLATCH.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, A SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BUCKLES AND, IF FOUND TO BE INOPERATIVE, THE ENTIRE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY WOULD BE REPLACED. FOR BUCKLES FOUND TO BE OPERATIVE, DEALER WILL REPLACE ONLY THE UPPER BUCKLE COVER.
