What Happened
Your Escape's engine has a cylinder head that helps keep your engine running smoothly. In some 2013 models with the 1.6L engine, this part can overheat and crack, allowing oil to leak out.
Risk if Unfixed
If the oil leaks onto a hot engine surface, it could catch fire in the engine compartment, potentially causing a serious engine fire.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will modify the engine shielding, cooling, and control systems to prevent overheating, all at no cost to you. They'll let you know when the repair is ready and you should schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
