Component
POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Manufacturer
General Motors LLC
What Happened
The start/stop accumulator is a small part in your transmission that helps it shift smoothly. In some 2018-2020 models of certain GM vehicles, this part may have been installed incorrectly, missing some essential bolts.
Risk if Unfixed
If the transmission oil leaks out because of the missing bolts, it could cause your vehicle to lose power and stall while driving. This could increase the risk of a crash, and if the oil spills onto a hot surface, it could also catch fire.
Free Fix
Your dealer will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
