What Happened
Your vehicle's automatic transmission software may have a problem that could cause it to shift into Sport mode unexpectedly, which could affect the engine's braking effect.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, it could increase the risk of a vehicle crash because the engine won't be able to slow down as quickly as it should.
Free Fix
Don't worry, it's free! The dealership will simply reprogram the transmission control module to fix the issue, and they'll do it at no cost to you.

Original — What Happened
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 Buick LaCrosse vehicles, manufactured between April 25, 2012, through March 6, 2013, and model year 2013 Cadillac SRX vehicles, manufactured between May 29, 2012, through February 18, 2013 for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." A software problem may cause the transmission to inadvertently shift to Sport mode removing any transmission-related engine braking effect.

What Happened
The rear toe links in your vehicle are metal pieces that help keep your back wheels aligned. In some 2010-2013 Buick and Chevrolet models, these links didn't get enough protective coating, which could cause them to break when hit by road debris.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rear toe links break, you could lose control of your vehicle, especially on a slippery road or when driving aggressively, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the worn-out toe links and adjuster fasteners with new ones, at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2010-2013 Buick Lacrosse, 2012-2013 Buick Regal, and 2013 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles sold or ever registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, or Wisconsin. These vehicles may have rear toe links that received an improper amount of electrocoating (e-coat) corrosion protection, which could cause the e-coat to become brittle and break away when contacted by road debris. What Happened
The rear toe links in your vehicle are like the flexible joints that connect your rear wheels to the rest of your suspension. What Happened
The Generator Control Module in your vehicle manages the electrical system. In certain 2012-2013 models, this module might not work as it should, causing problems with your battery.
Risk if Unfixed
If this issue isn't fixed, your engine could stall while driving, and you might not be able to start the vehicle again. You could also notice a burning smell, see smoke, or even see a fire in the trunk.
Free Fix
Your authorized GM dealer will test the Generator Control Module and replace it if necessary – absolutely free. You'll get a notification when the repair is ready, and you should schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2012 and 2013 Buick LaCrosse and Regal, and model year 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco vehicles equipped with eAssist. These vehicles may have a condition in which the Generator Control Module (GCM) may not function properly. This could cause a gradual loss of battery charge and the illumination of the malfunction indicator light.

If the vehicle is continued to be driven, the engine may stall and/or the vehicle may not start. In addition, there may be a burning or melting odor, smoke, and possibly a fire in the trunk.
