Critical #21V598000 Plain English
Component

ENGINE

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The engine management software in your car is like the brain that controls how your engine runs. In some 2020-2021 models, this software might not work right during engine start-up.
Risk if Unfixed
If your car's braking assist fails, you might struggle to stop quickly or smoothly. This could make it harder to control your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the engine management software to fix the issue, and this repair is completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice in the mail.
