Component
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The driver's air bag in your vehicle is the safety device that deploys to protect you in a crash. In some 2014-2015 X3, X5, and X4 models, the air bag inflator might not work correctly due to a manufacturing issue.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag doesn't deploy properly, it could rupture and send sharp metal fragments flying towards you or your passengers. This could cause serious injury or even be fatal.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty air bag with a new, safe one – at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, and it's free.
