What Happened
The air bag system in your vehicle includes a critical part called the driver's front air bag. This air bag is designed to inflate in the event of a crash to protect you from injury. However, in certain 2014 and 2015 BMW models, a manufacturing defect could cause the air bag to malfunction and potentially explode during deployment.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments could shoot out and hit you or your passengers, causing serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty air bag with a safe one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible once you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2014 X3 xDrive28i, X3 xDrive35i, X5 sDrive35i, X5 xDrive35i, and 2015 X4 xDrive35i vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.
