What Happened
The headlight on your motorcycle is the part that helps you see the road ahead. In some 2021-2024 BMW R 18B and R 18 Transcontinental models, the attachment points can break, causing the reflector to move out of place and reducing your visibility.
Risk if Unfixed
If the headlight beam is misaligned, you might see reduced visibility at night or have a glare from oncoming traffic, which could increase your risk of being involved in a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the headlamp with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2021-2024 BMW R 18B and R 18 Transcontinental motorcycles. The headlight low beam attachment points may break, shifting the reflector out of position, and resulting in insufficient illumination. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Dealers will replace the headlamp, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
