What Happened
The brake caliper is the part that helps you stop when you squeeze the brake lever. In certain 2019-2020 BMW motorcycles, this caliper can start leaking brake fluid when you park your bike.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brake caliper leaks for a long time, the brake fluid can get low. This might make your brakes less effective, increasing the risk of a crash when you need to stop suddenly.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the brake caliper and replace it with a new, improved one if needed – at no cost to you. You'll be notified, and the repair is free, so be sure to schedule it as soon as you can.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019-2020 R 1250 GS, GS Adventure and R 1250 RT, 2020 S 1000 RR and S 1000 XR motorcycles. The front brake calipers may leak brake fluid when parked. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 122, "Motorcycle Brake Systems."
