Component
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The third brake light on your M6 Gran Coupe is a safety light that alerts other drivers when you're slowing down or stopping. It's attached to the vehicle with fasteners, but in some 2014-2019 models, these fasteners may not hold tight.
Risk if Unfixed
If the third brake light comes loose and detaches from your vehicle, it won't light up to warn other drivers, and it could become a hazard on the road. This increases the risk of a crash, especially at night or in low-visibility conditions.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the third brake light, tighten the fasteners to keep it secure, and replace the light if it's damaged. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
