What Happened
The driveshaft in your vehicle is like a long metal rod that connects the transmission to the wheels, helping you move. In some 2016-2017 M3, M4, and M4 GTS models, the driveshaft can come loose and fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driveshaft fails, you could lose power and be unable to control your vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the driveshaft with a new one, free of charge. This repair is free to you, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2016-2017 BMW M3 Sedans, 2016-2017 BMW M4 and M4 GTS Coupes and 2017 BMW M4 Convertible vehicles. The connection between the driveshaft and the flange may fail resulting in a loss of propulsion.
