What Happened
The sunroof control system in your 2020-2021 228i, 228i xDrive, or M235i xDrive is the part that helps you open and close your sunroof. In certain situations, this system could continue to close the sunroof even when you've turned off the car and locked it.
Risk if Unfixed
If the sunroof keeps closing after you've turned off the car, it could increase the risk of injury, especially if you or someone in your vehicle is hit by the closing sunroof.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the sunroof's electronic software to prevent this issue, and the repair is free of charge. You should schedule the update as soon as you receive the recall notice from BMW.
