What Happened
The engine control unit (ECU) is the brain of your motorcycle's engine. In certain 2013-2015 BMW G 650 GS motorcycles, the ECU might not work properly when you're idling and using the clutch.
Risk if Unfixed
If your engine stalls when you're not moving, you could lose control of your motorcycle and be at risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the engine control unit software with a revised version, free of charge. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 G 650 GS motorcycles manufactured March 8, 2013, to March 2, 2015, and 2013-2014 G 650 GS Sertao motorcycles manufactured March 8, 2013, to May 23, 2014. The affected motorcycles may stall when they are idling and the clutch lever is pulled in.
