POWER TRAIN Safety Recalls

Critical #26V525000 Plain English
Component

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The driveshaft in your vehicle is like a long, flexible rod that connects the transmission to the rear wheels. It helps transfer power from the engine to the back of the car. In some 2022-2026 840i, 540i, and 750e models, the connection between the driveshaft and the rear differential might become damaged.
Risk if Unfixed
If this connection fails, your vehicle could lose power to the rear wheels while driving, making it harder to steer and increase the risk of a crash. If the parking brake isn't engaged, a damaged driveshaft can also cause your car to roll away, potentially leading to a crash or injury.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will inspect the connection between the driveshaft and rear axle differential. If needed, they'll apply a strong adhesive or replace the driveshaft and rear axle differential entirely – all at no cost to you. You'll get a notice when it's time to schedule the free repair.
