ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The starter assembly in your vehicle is responsible for turning the engine on. In some 2020-2022 models, it can overheat after repeated use.
Risk if Unfixed
If the starter motor overheats, it could catch nearby flammable materials in the engine area on fire. This is a serious risk that could cause significant damage to your vehicle or even lead to a fire while you're driving.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty starter motor with a new one at no cost to you. You'll need to schedule the repair as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice, and you may also need to return for a follow-up repair if your vehicle was previously repaired under a different recall number.

VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The digital key in your vehicle controls the power windows and sunroof. In certain 2022-2023 models, the software might not realize when the key is removed, so the windows and sunroof could close on their own.
Risk if Unfixed
If the windows or sunroof close without your key, you or a passenger could get hurt inside the car. This is a serious safety risk.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the software in your vehicle's computer, which will stop the windows and sunroof from closing without the key. This update is free, and your dealer will do it for you as soon as you get the recall notice.
