Component
AIR BAGS
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The front air bag system in your 760i xDrive or i7 xDrive60 includes air bags and an active headrest in the front passenger seat. In certain situations, the computer that controls the seat may not work properly, and the air bags might not deploy when they should.
Risk if Unfixed
If the computer doesn't recognize the seat position, the front passenger air bag, knee air bag, and active headrest might not work in a crash, which could lead to serious injury.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the computer software for the front passenger seat, ensuring the air bags and headrest work as intended. This update is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
