EXTERIOR LIGHTING Safety Recalls

Moderate #17V379000 Plain English
Component

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The left rear taillight on your vehicle is a critical light that helps other drivers see you in low-light conditions. Unfortunately, some 2013-2015 BMW 7-series models were given the wrong type of left rear taillight.
Risk if Unfixed
If the incorrect taillight is not working properly, you may be harder to see in the rear, which could increase the risk of a collision.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect your vehicle and replace the incorrect taillight with the correct one, at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2013-2015 740i, 740Li, 740Lxi, 750i, 750xi, 750Li and 750Lxi and 2014 ActiveHybrid 7 vehicles. The affected vehicles may have received incorrect replacement left rear taillight assemblies. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Vehicles with the incorrect left rear lamp assemblies may be less conspicuous to other drivers, possibly increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any incorrect left rear taillight assemblies, free of charge. The recall began August 11, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
