Component
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:DRIVER MONITORING:CAMERA/SENSOR
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The camera and sensor system in your vehicle is designed to detect when your hands are on the steering wheel. In some 2023-2024 BMW models, the connection to this system might not be properly attached.
Risk if Unfixed
If this connection isn't fixed, the system could fail to detect when your hands are off the wheel, which might stop the emergency stopping assistant from kicking in. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect and reattach the connection for you, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, which was mailed on December 8, 2023.
