AIR BAGS Safety Recalls

High Priority #25V871000 Plain English
Component

AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:HEAD

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The head air bag in your vehicle is a life-saving system that deploys in a crash to protect your head and neck. In some affected 2014-2015 BMW models, the air bag's inflator can fail at the weld joint, causing a leak or even a rupture.
Risk if Unfixed
If the inflator ruptures, sharp metal fragments could fly into the vehicle, causing serious injury. If it leaks gas, the air bag might not inflate properly in a crash, also risking injury.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty head air bag with a new one at no cost to you. This is a free repair, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the head air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 12, 2026. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
