Component
POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The CV joint in your vehicle's driveshaft is like a flexible elbow that connects your transmission to your wheels. In certain 2011-2012 BMW models, this joint might weaken and break.
Risk if Unfixed
If the CV joint breaks, you could lose control of your vehicle and be unable to accelerate. This could lead to a crash, especially on highways or busy roads.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the CV joint and replace it if necessary, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.
