Component
AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION:FRONT PASSENGER
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The passenger occupant detection system in your vehicle is a sensor that helps decide whether or not to deploy the passenger air bag. In some 2015-2020 Audi models, this system might not work properly and could turn off the air bag even when someone is sitting in the passenger seat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the passenger air bag doesn't deploy when it's supposed to, you're at higher risk of injury in a crash, especially if someone in the passenger seat isn't wearing a seatbelt.
Free Fix
Audi will replace the faulty sensor mat and update the control module for the passenger air bag system, completely free of charge. You should visit your local Audi dealer as soon as possible and let them know you received the recall notice.
