What Happened
The shock absorbers on your Tacoma are what help smooth out bumps in the road and keep your vehicle stable. In some 2024 and 2025 models, the metal parts of these shock absorbers can corrode and fail, causing a safety issue.
Risk if Unfixed
If the oil reservoir on the shock absorber comes loose, it could create a road hazard, like a sharp object or a slippery spot, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will inspect the shock absorber assemblies and replace them if needed, all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Tacoma Hybrid and 2024-2025 Tacoma vehicles. The metal flange on the front and rear shock absorbers may corrode and fail, resulting in detachment of the external oil reservoir.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
An oil reservoir that detaches can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the front and rear shock absorber assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB14 and 26TA14.
