What Happened
The intermediate steering shaft is a crucial part that connects your steering wheel to the steering gear box in your FJ Cruiser. It might have a weak weld that could break over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If the weld fails, you could lose control of your steering wheel while driving, making it harder to stay on the road and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will replace the intermediate steering shaft with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2014 FJ Cruiser vehicles manufactured August 7, 2013, to August 20, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the intermediate steering shaft which connects the steering wheel and the steering gear box may have an inadequate weld.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
If the intermediate steering shaft weld fails, there would be a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Original — Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the intermediate steering shaft, free of charge. The recall began on March 6, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
