What Happened
The occupant classification system in your vehicle is a computer that decides whether to turn the passenger airbag on or off. In some 2013-2014 Nissan models, this system might think the passenger seat is empty even when it's occupied by an adult.
Risk if Unfixed
If the airbag doesn't deploy when it should, the passenger could be at risk of injury in a crash. This is because the airbag helps cushion the impact and reduce the force of the crash on your body.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will update the software in your vehicle's occupant classification system, so it accurately detects passengers. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
